Semi-detached house: cracked driveway on the left, new driveway on the right
Thin or poorly compacted basespider-web cracks, dips, puddles Stone compacted in layersflat after winter

Same winter. Not the same base.

The difference between a driveway that lasts and one that cracks by its second spring is hidden under the surface: excavation depth, stone thickness and the number of compaction passes.

  1. The driveway that cracks two springs later. Water gets in, freezes, expands. It isn’t the climate winning: it’s a base that’s too thin losing.
  2. The one-line quote. “Driveway paving: $X.” What thickness? What base? When a quote fits on one line, the extras come at the end.
  3. The contractor you can’t reach anymore. The deposit is cashed, the date slips. By April, the “verbal” warranty is gone.

Two days. A driveway that lasts.

Most driveways are paved in a day. When the base needs rebuilding, allow a day of preparation, then paving.

Not a number thrown out over the phone: we come take a look, and the quote says exactly what we’ll do. Compare it with any other.

Before signing with any paver, ask:

  1. What stone and asphalt thickness, after compaction?
  2. A paver and a roller, or a shovel and a plate?
  3. Can the price change along the way? Who pays if the ground is softer than expected?
  4. What does the warranty cover, and for how long?
  5. Who actually does the work?

Weather permitting

Montréal, Laval, North and South Shore.

One page per city: 2026 prices, permits, allowed widths and curb cuts.

Straight answers.

How much does an asphalt driveway cost in 2026?

In Greater Montréal, a fully rebuilt driveway costs about $6 to $10 per square foot, or $2,400 to $4,000 for a 400 ft² double driveway before tax. Resurfacing a sound base costs $3–5.50/ft² and sealcoating $0.30–0.45/ft². We come take a look for free and you get your price.

How much does crack or pothole repair cost?

About $3 per linear foot for a hot-sealed crack, and $50 to $150 for a small pothole cut out and repaired with hot asphalt.

Is it too late this year?

It depends on the weather. Paving needs dry ground and warm enough weather; hot repairs (cracks, potholes, edges) can be done a little later in the season. Send a request: we’ll tell you what can be done before the freeze, and what can wait.

Can I just send a photo?

Yes. One wide shot and one close-up, by text, with your city. We’ll tell you whether a repair will do and whether we can do it before the freeze.

How long does the work take?

Most residential driveways are paved in a day. If a new base is needed, allow a day of preparation, then paving within the following days.

When can I drive on it?

Usually you can walk on it after 24 to 48 hours and drive gently after about three days. In hot weather, wait longer before parking in the same spot.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. The work is warranted against workmanship and material defects, and the terms are in your quote.

Do I need a permit to redo my driveway?

In most cities, not to redo a driveway at the same size; to widen it, yes, and the city cuts the curb. We handle the paperwork, and each city page sums up what it requires.

How much stone and asphalt do you put down?

Usually 6 to 8 in. of compacted crushed stone and 2 to 3 in. of compacted asphalt for a residential driveway; more for a commercial lot. The planned thicknesses are in the quote, after compaction.
